We are closing for now, but hope to see you all soon

Dear Wacky Club parents,
Following the Government's announcement yesterday that all schools will be closed until further notice, and the subsequent communication from Great and Shelford Primary School, I am writing to confirm that the Wacky After-School Club Committee has agreed that we will also be closing to pupils. We are liaising with the School regarding children of Key Workers (where both parents fall into that category), children with an Education, Health & Care Plan, and families open to social workers.
There are two weeks left of normal term time and we propose to carry over credit for sessions already paid for. Rest assured that we will reserve your current sessions at Wacky Club for next term. If anyone would prefer to have a refund for pre-booked sessions then please email Please note that Childcare Vouchers and Tax Free Childcare do not allow us to refund.
If you have booked for Easter Holiday Club then we will keep your booking form and place, although it is highly unlikely that we will be opening. If anyone has paid for Holiday Club you can be refunded or use the payment as credit against future After-School bookings.
We will, of course, keep you up to date with future opening dates and times and look forward to seeing you all again in the not too distant future. You will still be able to contact Wacky via the usual email ( and we will keep posting any new announcements here, on our website.
Keep healthy, keep happy, stay positive!
All best,
Tamsin Mann

Shaping the future of the Wacky Club

Dear Wacky Club parents and carers,

On 29 January we had a presentation from Cambridge Kids Club (CKC), the company our committee is talking to about running the Wacky Club for us. It was very nice to have some parents join that meeting, as well as three governors representing the school and diocese. Lots of good questions were asked about CKC's approach to playwork, how they run their other clubs, and the kind of relationships that they have with those schools.
This move is all about giving the Wacky Club a strong future, benefiting both our children and the staff and allowing the committee to focus on getting a new building for the Wacky Club and Rainbow.
Those of you who couldn't make the meeting should have received the presentation by email. If you have any questions or feedback, please get in touch.

Kind regards,

We had a Wacky October half-term!

Monsters, Minions and Pokémons of all shapes and sizes visited Wacky for a week of outdoor hunts, finger licking bakes and very messy play.
Stay tuned for our Christmas holiday programme...

Sign-out procedure

We recently changed the sign-out procedure at Wacky to help us keep your children safe.
When you buzz at the Wacky/Rainbow gate, the member of staff who lets you in will meet you at the entrance door to the Wacky portakabin, and will sign out your child at that point, leaving you free to then find your child and take him or her home. When all the Wacky team are outside, the member of staff will ask you to come to the rear of the building, and sign-out will occur then. To help us in this, we ask that you always enter via the Wacky/Rainbow gate, even when the school gates are open (e.g. for other after school activities).
We hope that this small change will enable us to ensure that all children are safely "handed over" to you at the end of their session, while also keeping an accurate record of the children still on site. Please do ask Jo or any of the committee members if you have any questions about this change.
